Our City

Cape Coral is one of the nation’s first master-planned communities.  The peninsular city lies between the scenic Caloosahatchee River, Charlotte Harbor and the Intercoastal Waterway.  Never to be duplicated, this waterfront wonderland features more than 400 miles of fresh and saltwater canals and 27 miles of shoreline.

Cape Coral is the most populated city on Southwest Florida, ranking 9th in population statewide.  Encompassing 114.4 square miles, it is also the state’s second largest geographical city.

The July 1996 issue of Money magazine ranked Cape Coral and the surrounding metropolitan area as the “6th Best Place to Live” out of 300 metro area in the United States.  In 2004, the U.S. Dept. of Congress ranked the area as #1 in new job growth.

Established in 1958, the Cape has experienced phenomenal growth.  Ranking the 3rd fastest growing market in the U.S., the Cape Coral area grew seven times faster than the national average between 1980 and 1990.

The city’s vision for the next century includes plans for a thriving industrial and commercial base, elegant waterfront development and additional attractions.
